Pre-Kindy Room

Our pre-kindy room caters for children aged between 2 ½ yrs – 3 ½ years.

We have two staff (an Educator and Educator Assistant) with a maximum group size of 16 children at any one time.

One of the main aims of the Pre-Kindy room is to develop children’s self help skills along with emotional and cognitive skills.

The pre-Kindy room provides a child based program and curriculum based on the Early Years Learning Framework.

Interests of the children are observed by staff and then facilitated through hands on experiences, group activities and language times.

In this age group, a major focus is on toileting and learning to work and share as part of a group.

Daily Room Routine

7:00 - 8:00 Centre Opens. Everyone gather in Pre-Prep room

8:00 - 8:50 Junior Kindy and toddlers separate to Toddler Playground
Nappy changes/toileting

8:50 - 9:00 Pre-Kindy and toddlers separate to rooms

9:00 - 9:15 Morning

9:15 - 9:30 1 staff wash faces and clean up

1 staff hats/sunscreen

9:30 - 10:30 Indoor Activities (program)

10:30 - 10:50 Group Experiences (Language, Music & Movement)

10:50 - 11:00 (transition children to outdoors / sun cream applied)

11:00 - 11:30 Outdoor Playtime

11.30 – 11.40 Transition children to bathroom to wash hands

11.45 -12.15 Lunch Time (Educators sit with children whilst they are eating)

(Nappy Changes / toileting / washing hands & faces) before rest time

12.15 - 2:00 Rest/sleep time

(As children wake, nappies/toileting/shoes)

2:00 - 2:30 Afternoon tea

2:30 - 3:00 Hats/sunscreen and any nappies to be done (Small group time)

3:00 – 4.00 outside play 3:45 - 4:00 Start nappies/toileting

4:00 - 4:30 start packing up

4.30 – 5.30 Indoor activities in Pre-Kindy Room

6:00 Centre closed
